62 Beauty confidence quotes to remind you of your value

If there was ever a reason to read beauty confidence quotes it must be to remind yourself of your true value.

I don’t think we read them because we want to prove to ourselves how ugly we are. Rather, we read them in the hopes that someone has written something that describes exactly how you are or how you feel and, when you read that quote you can say, “There! That’s my value!”

So, with the aim of encouraging you to remember your inner and outer beauty and to encourage you to be yourself and walk your own path, here are 62 beauty confidence quotes aimed at exactly that.

Inner beauty

Inner beauty refers to the qualities that a person possesses on the inside, such as their personality traits, values, and attitudes, that make them attractive and appealing to others. It is a concept that emphasizes the importance of character and personal qualities, rather than just physical appearance.

Some of the characteristics that are often associated with inner beauty include kindness, empathy, compassion, generosity, honesty, integrity, and a positive attitude. These qualities are considered important because they help people connect with others on a deeper level and create positive and meaningful relationships.

While physical beauty is often the focus of societal standards and expectations, inner beauty is considered by many to be more valuable and long-lasting. It is a quality that can shine through even in the absence of physical attractiveness, and can have a positive impact on people’s lives and relationships.

I underate inner beauty every single time. I am drawn to attractive people who are funny, entertain me and make me laugh. I have learnt to give time to those people who are quieter, who don’t stand out in a crowd, who think their own thoughts and don’t need to let you know what they are. So, preaching to myself here are some inner beauty quotes to inspire you:

  1. “Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.” – Kahlil Gibran

Beautiful people do not just happen.” – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
  5. “The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.” – Audrey Hepburn

Confidence

I think confidence gives women beauty. Not necessarily a loud, noisy confidence, but an inner confidence. Confidence and self esteem are closely connected and these are truly great character traits to possess. With that in mind I research some quote on confidence. The first one I found is brilliant, from the shoe maker, Christian Louboutin

“A great pair of heels can make you feel taller, more confident, and more glamorous than any other accessory. They have the power to transform the way you walk, the way you feel, and even the way you see yourself.” – Christian Louboutin

I definitely agree re a great pair of heels, even though post-Covid I am rarely in high heels! Here are some more great quotes to inspire you to seek out confidence as a character trait for yourself.

  1. “Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.” – Christian D. Larson
  2. “The most beautiful thing you can wear is confidence.” – Blake Lively
  3. “Confidence is not “they will like me”. Confidence is “I’ll be fine if they don’t”.” – Christina Grimmie
  4. “If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life.” – Marcus Garvey
  5. “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” – Helen Keller
  6. “Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.” – Peter T. McIntyre
  7. “Confidence is not a guarantee of success, but a pattern of thinking that will improve your likelihood of success, a tenet of trust that can be practiced and developed.” – Rosabeth Moss Kanter

Self Confidence

While confidence is a more general term that can refer to belief in one’s abilities in various areas of life, self-confidence specifically refers to a person’s belief in their own abilities and worth as an individual. Here are some self confidence quotes to inspire you to have an innate belief in your abilities:

  1. “True beauty is knowing who you are and what you stand for, and then being that every day.” Christy Turlington
  2. “I’ve finally stopped running away from myself. Who else is there better to be?” Meryl Streep
  3. “I think it’s important to find the beauty within yourself and to feel comfortable with it and to own it.” Tyra Banks
  4. “Confidence is knowing who you are and being proud of that.” Stormzy

Beauty as a state of mind

One of Dolly Parton’s most famous quotes about beauty is: “Beauty is more than skin deep. It’s a state of mind. It’s about how you feel about yourself and how you treat others.”

The concept of beauty being a state of mind suggests that how we perceive and experience beauty is largely influenced by our thoughts, emotions, and attitudes. In other words, beauty is not just an external characteristic of an object, person, or situation, but it is also a subjective experience that is shaped by our inner world.

This means that our thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes can either enhance or detract from our ability to perceive beauty in the world around us. For example, if we have a negative mindset or a critical attitude, we may be more likely to focus on flaws or imperfections in a person or object, rather than appreciating its beauty. One of Michelle Obama’s quotes on beauty is: “You don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.” which highlights the fact that beauty does not mean perfection. Marilyn Monroe said something similar when she said, “”Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

Conversely, if we focus on those things that are within our own powers to change and cultivate a positive mindset and a sense of gratitude and openness, we may be more likely to notice and appreciate beauty in the world around us, even in things that might otherwise seem ordinary or unremarkable.

Ultimately, the idea that beauty is a state of mind highlights the importance of our mental and emotional states in shaping our perceptions and experiences of the world, and suggests that by focussing on the positive things in our life, we may be able to experience greater beauty in our lives.

Natural Beauty

What is natural beauty and can we all possess it? I’m often surprised when people compliment me on my look/outfit on the very day when I think I look tired or not dressed my best. What do they see that i cannot that they like? i don’t know the answer to that. Here are some quotes on natural beauty. Be encouraged, who you are and how you look is beautiful. It may be unconventional, but it is still beautiful.

  1. “There’s nothing more beautiful than the natural you.” – Unknown

  5. “There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.” – Steve Maraboli

  7. “Being natural is not a statement, it’s the closest I can get to being myself.” – Audrey Hepburn
  8. “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” – Helen Keller

Feeling comfortable in one’s own skin

Like confidence, feeling comfortable in one’s own skin is an inner trait that manifests itself on the outside. Feeling comfortable in one’s own skin is like being in love with oneself. There is a feeling of completeness and acceptance of the needs of your body rather than the pull of the external world. This is true inner beauty. Here are some inspirational quotes on being comfortable in one’s own skin:

  1. “To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
  2. “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.” – Brené Brown
  3. “The most powerful relationship you will ever have is the relationship with yourself.” – Steve Maraboli
  4. “There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.” – Steve Maraboli

Feminism and beauty

What do feminists have to say about beauty and confidence? The rise in the feminist movement promoted equality between men and women but also addressed ideals of beauty and women conforming to standards set by society or by men. Feminists argue that these standards are often unrealistic and unattainable, and that they can lead to negative body image, low self-esteem, and mental health issues among women.

“Lift the breasts high, but not so high that they tower over the men. They do not like it if a woman is taller than them. So shrink.
Be young. Never ever grow old.
Don’t live, don’t breed without permission, but always give pleasure.”

― K.P. Kulski, Fairest Flesh

Some feminists advocate for body positivity and self-love as alternatives to mainstream beauty standards. They believe that everyone should have the freedom to define their own beauty and reject societal pressure to conform to narrow beauty standards.

“I am a woman with thoughts and questions and things to say. I say if I’m beautiful. I say if I’m strong. You will not determine my story – I will.”

Amy Schumer

Their voices join those of the people who we have read above, who promote an alternative viewpoint of beauty to the merely exterior quality. Feminist views also promote inclusivity and diversity in beauty representation.

“The emerging woman … will be strong-minded, strong-hearted, strong-souled, and strong-bodied … strength and beauty must go together.”

Louisa May Alcott

Overall, feminists argue that beauty should not be used as a means of control or a marker of worth, and it should be redefined to reflect diverse and inclusive representations of beauty.

Beauty and simplicity

Perhaps at its best the notion of beauty, and beauty confidence is tied to simplicity.

Here are some thoughtful quotes that tie the notion of beauty with simplicity:

  1. The best beauty is the beauty of simplicity.” Lao Tzu
  2. “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? Matthew 6:28-30
  3.  “Beauty is truth, truth beauty, — that is all / Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.” John Keats

In conclusion…

We’ve seen in these quotes that being beautiful is not equal to being perfect. If you have thoughts along the lines that you have to be thinner, better, more beautiful, work out more, or in any way alter yourself to fit some sort of norm or standard, I hope that these quotes will reassure you that you are beautiful just as you are.

I’ll finish with some quotes on beauty and imperfection. To your beautiful and imperfect you. Go and shine.

  1. “You are imperfect, permanently and inevitably flawed. And you are beautiful.” Amy Bloom
  2. “You have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.” Louise Hay
  3. “To love yourself right now, just as you are, is to give yourself heaven. Don’t wait until you die. If you wait, you die now. If you love, you live now.” Alan Cohen
  4. “There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.” Steve Marabol

I hope you enjoyed this blog post. I hope it encouraged you to feel self empowered to set your own standards as to what you think beauty is and that you will remember one or two of these quotes and remind yourself of them any time you start to feel inadequate or ‘not enough’. Because, as these quotes show us, you are enough, just as you are.
